Swedish company (V & S), maker of Absolut vodka has withdrawn an advertisement for the liquor in Mexico that featured a map extending the domains of this country in the United States to the prewar boundaries between the two countries (1846-1848).
The map used, current in 1830, placed under Mexican control the states of Texas, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and parts of Colorado and Wyoming territories Mexico lost the benefit of United States with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ending this war.
The use of this map up controversy in the United States and angered and offended many Americans who suggested a boycott over the Internet against the Absolut vodka brand.
