Today I want to talk about a splendid campaign of our colleagues at Greenpeace. We all know the over-exploitation of our seas are doing and the responsibility we have the English as a major fishing powers and fish consuming the planet.
first thing that Greenpeace has done is to identify species of fish should not eat either because of their delicate condition, or because their form of fishing is unsustainable. This link you can access the list compiled by Greenpeace red.
following was identified by observing that 70% of purchases of fish is carried out in six major areas of supply: Carrefour, Lidl, Alcampo, Eroski, Mercadona and El Corte Ingles.
So what they did is to work with these companies to remove your bid species appearing on the red list and commit to a policy of buying sustainable seafood. With this work and more pressure to conduct evaluations of these large areas. The last evaluation yields the following conclusions: Carrefour and Lidl are better and more sustainable, though still need to improve. Alcampo, Eroski and Mercadona improve in the last year but still in the red (the worst of the valuation of Greenpeace) and finally the English Court has the worst score and is not better. stay the full report at the following link to read .
The conclusions are clear, if you buy your fish in a large area in which you try to do more they try and of course always buying those fish for which fishing is more sustainable. Sure there are hundreds of recipes that make sustainable seafood is delicious and also eat with good conscience.
